FMB’s Spring Shred Day is Saturday, May 14th from 10am to 12pm at the Lake Oconee Branch located within Harmony Crossing. Bring in those financial and personal documents you no longer need and let us shred them for you safely and securely! With identity theft on the rise we want to offer not only our customer but the entire community an opportunity to destroy any documents that could lead to their identity being compromised. Also, bring in your old computers and we can “shred” all information on the hard drive and donate any old or unwanted computers.
PLEASE LIMIT 2 BOXES PER PERSON!
Do you know the Three “D’s” in Proper Identity Theft Protection?
DETER, DETECT and DEFEND
Deter: Deter identity thieves by safeguarding your information. This can be done by shredding your financial documents and paperwork, protecting your Social Security number, never giving out personal information over the phone, through the mail or the internet and keeping all personal information in a secure place.
Detect: Detect suspicious activity by routinely monitoring your financial accounts and billing statements. Visit www.AnnualCreditReport.com or call 1-877-322-8228 to order a free copy of your credit report annually.
Defend: Defend against identity theft as soon as you suspect a problem. If you suspect suspicious activity place a “Fraud Alert” on your credit cards, close any comprised accounts, file a police report as well as report a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
If you every suspect that you have become a victim of identity theft please do not hesitate to let FMB know so that we can help you through the process step by step. We are here for you!!!
